Fresh from Farmers this Week:
|
Deerfield Farms: Deerfield Farm has processing tomatoes available at by the box prices. We just cooked up a batch for ourselves, and these sweet paste type tomatoes live up to their reputation. They made a sweet, thick sauce and we didn’t even skin or seed them! Our favorite way to use them: Wash, cut off tops and any spots, slice tomatoes in half. Place in a large glass baking dish and roast at 450* for about an hour, or until they start to blacken. You can be done at this point, or continue cooking at 350* until the liquid reduces. Use a hand blender/or blender to puree and can, freeze or enjoy now!
Grow Wild Gardens: Roger will be bringing an abundance of fresh-cut herbs to Market this Saturday. Make bundles for roasting meat and making soups, or simply add to marinades or salads or grilled meats and veggies.
Northern Latitude Foods – Coeur d’Alene Wild Rice: It’s harvest time! This Saturday will be the last day for 2 to 3 weeks that you can purchase rice as we will be out harvesting. We will be back the last Saturday in September and all of October. We hope to see you this Saturday!
Blue Wildrye Farm: Our new batch of grass fed & finished beef has arrived—packed with everything from prime steaks to ground beef to shanks for a cozy osso buco. This batch brings back a customer favorite: Primal Blend Ground Beef! This unique mix combines our 100% grass fed and finished ground beef with a boost of 10% nutrient rich ground beef liver and 10% ground beef heart. It’s the perfect way to enjoy all the flavor of our beef while sneaking in extra nutrition. $14/package. Online pre-orders are also available: click here to order on the website by 11 pm on Thursdays for Saturday pick up or 11 pm on Mondays for Wednesday pick up.
Kiss My Biscotti: Did you know that Kiss My Biscotti has homemade dry mixes? These dry mixes are some of the recipes from my parents Bed and Breakfast, The Ponderosa. The mixes are a convenient, budget-friendly way to bring wholesome meals and fresh-baked goods into your kitchen—without relying on store-bought shortcuts filled with preservatives and additives. Whether it’s a hearty soup blend packed with dried vegetables and savory spices or a simple bread mix ready to rise, these DIY pantry staples make meal prep faster, easier, and more nourishing.
Robinson’s Confections: Due to popular request, we are going to start making limited runs of our authentic Dubai Chocolate Bars in dark chocolate (a mild 54.5% dark…not the more bitter 72% dark). We will only have 6 of these out at tomorrow’s Riverstone market so people who want a dark chocolate bar should plan on hitting our booth as close to 4PM as possible. Same $30 pricing point as the milk chocolate bars.
Lake City Bakers: We will be bringing some fun new treats this Saturday! Check out our Snickerdoodle Zucchini or Lemon Blueberry Breads. We will also have that tart and buttery sweet Rhubarb Bread! We are also putting together a big batch of Chicken Salad for Croissant Sandwiches and fresh Chicken Salad Pita Pockets!
Simply Sweet Cottage Treats: We are rolling a few fall menu items this week. Our menu will include: pumpkin bread, zucchini bread, our classic brown butter brioche cinnamon rolls, lemon curd with blueberry compote rolls, peach cobbler rolls, caramel apple pie rolls, pumpkin butter rolls, German Chocolate rolls, garlic parmesan rolls and roasted tomato pesto with parmesan cheese and pepperoni rolls, bourbon caramel with pecan sticky buns and chocolate chip cookies. And don’t forget our delicious brown butter lemon curd swirled blueberry coffee cake!
Garden Party Fibers: This week I have hand spun a beautiful soft white wool yarn. What’s special about this yarn? It is grown by my daughter’s targhee sheep, Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Stop by my booth and see. Winter is coming…Juaquetta
Graham Publishing: Face it. Life is stressful and the summer-into-back-to-school transition can be a bumpy one. What you need is a rest-your-brain book! Stop by and chat with Clark and Deb of Graham Publishing and pick up one of nearly 100 fresh books in several genres. We’re right by the Market Manager and we love talking with people!
