Kids Day is almost here! Have your kids signed up as youth vendors? On August 9th (Wednesday) and August 19th (Saturday), we’re giving the young people a chance to sell at the market as a youth vendor for TWO Kids Days instead of one. This Saturday, the Hayden Library will be back at the market with an activity for kids and a free book. Then, next Wednesday, the 19th, Kid Centric Sports Association will be in our Community Booth raising awareness and support for helping youth be active and involved. Check them out!
This Week’s PoP Club!This week’s PoP Club Activity: Planting Winter Squash Seeds! PoP Club is a free market program for kids ages 5-12 introduces them to healthy produce with fun hands-on activities and challenges that are fresh and new each week. When a child completes an activity, they get a $2 token that they can redeem around the market for fresh fruit, vegetables, and food-bearing plants. |

Carpe Diem Crepes: Come to the Wednesday Market and try out my Crêpe of the Month called “Coucou”: strawberries, caramel and topped with crushed Strawberry & Cream cookie from simplysweetcottagetreats . This definitely tastes like Summer! (I will not be at the Saturday Market on 7//15 and 7/22.)
Gem State Mushrooms: Are you ready to embark on a culinary adventure this weekend? Gem State Mushrooms has a special treat for you at booth 27. Come to the booth to see the exquisite selection of mushrooms from chestnuts, pioppinos, lions mane, pink oysters, blue oysters, and king trumpets. Starting at 9am Chef Gabe will be preparing the Farm to Fork taste of lions mane that will leave your taste buds begging for more.
Beauty Bay Winery: This weekend, we will have our usual delicious wines that are handcrafted from 100% fruit and are 100% natural: our Dry and regular raspberry, along with Apricot, Blackberry and Blueberry. Coming soon: the return of our Blackcap and we’ll have Concord grape in a few months.

Cool off with this quiche made with eggs - or duck eggs! - from the market.
- 1 pie crust
- 4 chicken or duck eggs from a local farmer
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped roasted hatch green chiles or other roasted peppers
- 1/2 cup cooked ground sausage
- 1 1/2 cups add-ins of your choice (recommended: bacon, spinach, onions, mushrooms)
- salt, pepper and Sandia Spice's Green Chile Seasoning

Preheat your oven to 375℉.

Line a pie pan with the pie crust and blind bake it for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl with a hand mixer, or using an electric mixer, beat the eggs, milk, and cream for 1 minute, until foamy. Mix in the remaining ingredients and season to taste.

Remove the crust from the oven and cool slightly. Lower the oven temperature to 350℉.

Pour the egg mixture into the pie crust. Return to the oven and bake 45-55 minutes, until the center is set.

Serve warm or cold. Enjoy with a salad of market greens and veggies!
