Are you ready for the 2024 season, Market customers? We are!!
This past weekend, we got the Market set up in Hayden all set up and ready for you!. Now, imagine all these booths full of wonderful locally produced products and plant, Bill Bozly on stage, and lots of happy shoppers and vendors arriving for opening day on May 11!
As we look forward to opening day, here are a few things to note and remember.
- Opening day is Mother’s Day Weekend, Saturday, May 11th. We will be open at 9:00 am sharp to serve you! We’ll have all the usual – many area farmers, lots of plants, meat, milk, cheese, eggs, early spring produce, flowers for Mom, coffee, pastries. You’ll notice that both our market and food court have expanded around the building! (Note: handicapped parking has moved to the lot across Meadowlark.)
- Opening Wednesday Market is May 15th. And we will again be taking over Riverstone every week with even more vendors than ever before. We’re excited to continue serving our community at this mid-week location. (Note: The 5th Street Farmers Market is a separate market from Kootenai County Farmers’ Markets.)
- It’s Bike to Work Month!
- POP Club for kids starts in June with a bunch of fun activities!
- Our live music lineup this summer is rockin’ the market. Subscribe to get the Fresh Sheet every Friday in your inbox, and we’ll let you know who’s playing when.
- More details next week on WHAT’S FRESH at Market Opening Days in next Friday’s Fresh Sheet and on our Facebook page!
“At the Kootenai Market, the vendors are all producers. We
inspect the farms. Produce is grown by hand, using clean
methods, with the season. Meat animals are raised humanely,
with proper food, grass and sunshine. Honey is local and pure. Baked goods don’t need a ton of preservatives to last in plastic packages on the shelf. The money you spend is going directly from your hand to the farmer, There is no middle man or broker to skim profits. There is no GMO, no heavy use of
pesticides or herbicides. You won’t find high fructose corn syrup
in our jams! And it’s not that much more expensive, especially compared to organic produce prices in the stores.
I dare you to find a strawberry in the store that tastes anything
like a ripe, fresh picked one from a farmer’s small patch the
day before. And if you are on EBT, we even give extra tokens
for free to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.”
