Welcome to Your Weekly Shopping List, Market Customers!
PoP Club has returned to the Market! This free program for kids ages 5-12 introduces them to healthy produce with fun hands-on activities and challenges that are fresh and new each week. When a child completes an activity, they get a $2 token that they can redeem around the market for fresh fruit, vegetables, and food-bearing plants. Stop by the PoP Club booth and discover what activities we have for your kids this week!
And there is a wealth of produce to choose from this week as our farm and garden vendors begin harvesting summer vegetables and greens. New on the menu: strawberries, broccoli, broccolini, new potatoes, and more. Tomato and pepper plants are still available – and on sale! – to fill out your garden or encourage your kids to grow their own. See below for a full list of fresh produce and foods to add to your market grocery list this week.
Peonies, peonies everywhere! You can find an abundance of singles and bouquets, along with other flowers, at both the Saturday and Wednesday markets. Hey, dad’s like flowers too!
It’s Dad’s weekend. Good Shepherd Lamb will have smoked lamb ribs packaged and ready to reheat for Sunday’s meal. Pick up Dad’s favorite Apple Huckleberry Pie or a giant decorated Chocolate Chip Cookie from Lake City Cakes. Dads also love Hard Crack Toffee. Tracy at Willow Wood Honey Farm just finished some local driftwood baskets complete with deer antler handles for dads to organize the small stuff. Other gift ideas for Dad: Tomahawk Beef Jerky, a new handcrafted chair for the porch from Idaho Chair Man, honey for his special BBQ sauce, salsa for snacking, wine or infused vinegar for marinating, a pack of sourdough Everything MaK bagels, or a unique wooden bench from Aho’s Idaho Woodwork. Or just treat him to a Squatch dog or a coffee and a bag of donuts.
Reminder: Bring your market basket for shopping or a box for your plants. Our vendors also appreciate small cash bills, especially if you are shopping early.

June is National Grilling Month. Throw this recipe on the grill on Father's Day alongside some Ramstead steaks and smoked Good Shepherd lamb ribs.
- 2 lb broccoli
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp honey
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt, plus more for sprinkling
- freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, plus more for serving
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- lemon wedges, for serving
-
Preheat grill to medium heat. Trim off fibrous bottom half of broccoli stem, then quarter broccoli head into small trees.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together oil, Worcestershire, soy sauce, ketchup, honey, and garlic. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add in broccoli and toss to coat. Let sit for 10 minutes.
-
Place broccoli on grill and sprinkle lightly with more salt. Grill broccoli until knife-tender and slightly charred, flipping every 2 minutes and basting with any remaining sauce, 8 to 10 minutes.
-
Sprinkle with Parmesan and more red pepper flakes, and serve with lemon wedges. Enjoy!
