Hi Everyone,
Our farmers are reporting that the cool, late-spring temps have made for an excellent broccoli crop, which they’ll begin harvesting this week! The Napa cabbages are also coming on strong, as are treats such as peas and fresh basil. Also new this week (at the Saturday market) is an exciting program designed to get your kids as interested in their food as you are! (Did I mention they can earn market tokens for participating?) Read on for details… |
MUSIC THIS WEEK:
Wednesday: Eric Degenhardt
Saturday: Rendition
This year the Kootenai County Farmers Market is introducing a new program called the PoP (Power of Produce) Club brought to you by the Inland Northwest Food Network.
Every week, children ages 5-12 are invited to participate in activities that involve cooking and gardening, and a variety of interactive learning experiences that connect kids with the natural world around them, children will also each receive a $2 token to use at participating farmer booths to purchase a fruit or veggie of their choice. The PoP Club will be located near the South entrance of the market next to the market manager’s booth. The first club meeting is on June 10th 2017 and every Saturday after that until September 9th 2017. Come out and join the PoP Club and experience the power of produce! |
Look forward to seeing you there!
