4th of July Market Must-Haves
1: Grassfed Meats for the Grill (vegans, please skip to #2)
Put the very best on your grill this weekend. We have several ranchers bringing a range of grassfed meats to market this season, and they’re offering pre-order today, if you need your meat to be defrosted by tomorrow.
Browning Beef recommends their steak kabobs (recipe below). They are also offering a special this week on orders of $100 or more. Shop online or give them a call to order.
Idaho Livestock has bone-in rib-eyes and top sirloin available now, as well as hamburger. Pre-orders can be placed via their website or by calling the ranch.
Good Shepherd Lamb Co will have plenty of fresh lamb chops, burger and leg of lamb available at market on Saturday for you to take and grill for the 4th.
2: Garlic Scapes
The perfect accompaniment to your grilled meats, garlic scapes can be placed on the grill once your meat is almost done. Cindy Weston, of Terra Topia, says this side dish could not be easier. Just brush with a little olive oil, grill until slightly golden on both sides, sprinkle with salt and serve.
They can also be grilled and chopped as a seasoning for other vegetable dishes, such as mashed cauliflower or new potatoes (also in season).
Garlic scapes are only available for a couple of weeks each year, so it’s a great time to take advantage of this delicacy.
3. Festive Local Beverages
Celebrate with these festive and local ideas from Beauty Bay Winery!
Blackcap “Mule”: Pour a glass of our Blackcap wine; add ginger beer to taste along with a squeeze of lime. Add ice and enjoy!
All our wines, especially the Huckleberry and Dry Raspberry top off a glass of Champagne nicely and add a new twist to an old favorite.
Finally, try this: pour our Apricot wine over frozen chunks of watermelon. Delicious!
4: Star-Spangled Dessert
Bean and Pie is baking a special holiday edition of their best-selling Berry Pie… strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and marionberries, with crumb and stars on top!
