Harvest Season is the best season, Customers!
The nights have turned cool this week, but that just means we’ve entered Harvest Season! The greens and vegetables are sweeter and richer. The fruits are plump and sugary. Farmers and craft food vendors are bringing canned farm foods and the first of the fall flavors for your shopping pleasure.
Harvest Season and Fall also mean some fun upcoming market events. The first is Fall Fest on Saturday, September 24 with pumpkins, pumpkin carving, activities for kids, cornstalks and fall decorations for sale, scarecrows, and a full celebration of fall. Come celebrate with us!
NOTE: The last Downtown Wednesday Market is on September 28th, the last Saturday Hayden Market is on October 22nd, and the last Market of the season is on Saturday, October 29th at our Downtown CDA location.
What’s Fresh?!
In addition to the cornucopia of late summer/early fall produce, you can find some delicious foods and ingredients at the market.
Grizzly Bros. will have six packages of their popular, delicious Mangalitsa Pork Belly – come early to get yours! They’ll also have all the things: bacon, ham hocks, smoked ham, chops, ribs, roasts, and more.
Mushrooms are the perfect food to add to fall meals. This weekend, Gem State is featuring Pink Oysters, Blue Oysters, and Lion’s Mane – ask about their dried mushrooms to carry you through the winter! And check out their vegan recipe featured below: Mushroom Pulled “Pork”.
For another option to enjoy mushrooms all winter, Rider Mushroom Co. has grow Blue Oyster and Lion’s Beard grow kits to grow your own food and provide a fun activity for your kids.
Lake City Juice is helping you prepare for the changing of the seasons with 15% off any 3-Day Juice Cleanse if you buy an extra fresh juice. Just look at all the available flavors: Snap Back, Sunshine Squeeze, Beet Blaster, Black Widow Detox…and more!
Before you do that cleanse, though, you might enjoy a bit of a sweet treat. Next Wednesday, Simply Sweet Cottage Treats will have caramel apples and pumpkin pie rolls for a taste of fall.
This weekend, Black Forest Bakery is using honey from Willow Wood Honey Farm to make Baklava with honey syrup and BeeSting with honey baked almonds, as well as and zucchini from Sunny Springs Garden to bring you Zucchini Bread. Our vendors are certainly enjoying the harvest season together.
Reminder: Bring your market basket for your shopping or a box for your plants. Our vendors also appreciate small cash bills, especially if you are shopping early.
