The Winter blues may have settled in, but spring is just around the corner. Hopefully the groundhog is right, and it’s an early one!
We here at the market are gearing up for our 2019 season. This means lots of planning and organizing, fixing things that need repair and going over piles of notes from last season. For our farmers, it means ordering seeds, planning their planting schedules and getting ready for birthing season which, for many, starts in March.
Opening day is Mother’s Day weekend – May 11th (note: we always open Mother’s Day weekend).
New this season:
Buskers in the food court. What’s a busker? They are those budding musicians you might see playing in parks on and streets for tips. It is a traditional way (dating back through many cultures over thousands of years) for small musicians to make a living as they are their business. We (here at the market) are all about supporting small, local talent, so we think this will be a great fit! (If you know a budding musician, or a youth musician who would be interested in performing, have them email the market).
Back by popular demand:
The Power of Produce (PoP) Club! This program was hugely popular last year, serving an average of 534 kids per week! Children got to participate in a new activity each week designed to teach them about healthy eating, and got a $2 token to spend at market on a fruit or veggie (or plant for growing their own produce) of their choice. Special thanks to the Panhandle Health District for stepping up to provide much needed funding to allow the program to continue this season.
And we’ll have more updates for you as the season gets closer.
Interested in becoming a vendors this season? Mark your calendar with these dates:

We’re looking forward to another blockbuster season and are looking forward to seeing all your bright, smiling faces. We’ve missed you all!
– Manager Beth (on behalf of the market)
