Children’s Programs
Library Programs: The Hayden Library sponsors a program for children on the 3rd Saturday of each month; The Coeur d’Alene Library sponsors a program every Wednesday (unless it’s raining). The Library booths are located next to the Market Manager booth at both locations. See the events calendar for dates.
The Power of Produce Club (PoP Club) is an ongoing program at Saturday markets. The program is partially funded by a grant from The Friends of the Kootenai County Farmers Market non-profit using donations from market customers and vendors, as well as from area businesses. The club is free for children ages 5 to 12. Participating children will receive weekly tokens to spend at the market on healthy fruits, vegetables, and food-bearing plants. In addition, the PoP Club booth will offer hands-on activities designed to teach children how to grow and prepare their own food. The program will run June through September.
Master Gardeners
The University of Idaho Master Gardener Program has a booth staffed by volunteer Master Gardeners at the Saturday market to answer garden questions and provide advice and information on many horticultural subjects.
Community Table
When available, the Kootenai County Farmers’ Market Association will donate space to community groups to raise funds. Examples are bake sales for school or scouting programs, or general community education.
