Friends of the Market
Friends of Kootenai County Farmers Market is newly established as a new 501c3 non-profit volunteer organization. We hope to preserve KCFM as a vibrant and creative gathering place with family friendly activities. One of our main focuses is to educate the public to eat seasonally and nutritiously by promoting healthy locally grown food and make it accessible to our community at all income levels. We are looking for fellow fans of our beloved Market, both customers and vendors, to join us. Your support as a Friend of KCFM, through volunteering or donations, would be incredibly valuable to the community. Volunteers are needed to assist in Market events and programs like the very popular children’s PoP (Power of Produce) Club, which encourages healthy eating at a young age in a fun, interactive way. Donations would be used to fund other established Market programs like Double Up Bucks, to benefit low-income customers; as well as updated emergency equipment, and other programs as funding allows.
The Friends will host informational booths at the Market and invite guests like the University of Idaho Extension Eat Smart program, which demos healthy eating ideas and recipes using our available fresh Market ingredients.
If you would like to volunteer to assist or have ideas for Market events and programs, please email us at: Friends.KCFM@gmail.com
Donations can be made at the Market Manager booth during either Market, at jars featuring our logo found at multiple vendor booths throughout the Market, and online at: Paypal.me/FriendsKCFM
