Ingredients

  • 12 oz shishito peppers
  • 2 Tbs avocado oil
  • large pinch sea salt
  • 4 cloves garlic, sliced thin
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp soy sauce or liquid aminos
  • 2 tsp Furikake seasoning, everything seasoning, toasted sesame seeds, or red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat an extra-large skillet over medium heat, and toss the peppers with the oil and salt to lightly and evenly coat. Add the peppers to the hot pan and let them sit to blister, tossing approximately every 3 minutes, until the sides are blistered and blackened, and the peppers are just beginning to soften.

  2. Remove the peppers from the pan and set aside. Immediately add the garlic to the same pan over medium heat, add a little more oil if needed, and cook until crispy golden and fragrant.

  3. Add the peppers back to the pan with the garlic just to warm through. Turn off heat. Drizzle the peppers and garlic with the sesame oil and soy sauce and toss to evenly coat.

  4. Serve hot on a platter or in a bowl sprinkled generously with the seasoning of your choice. Serve immediately or at room temperature. Enjoy!
