WINTER MARKET THIS SATURDAY!!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
This Saturday is our annual winter market and we are celebrating it this year at our regular Saturday market site, on the corner of Hwy 95 and Prairie Ave.
We are planning on having over 60 vendors! We will have seasonal produce including apples, onions, garlic, winter squash, carrots, and more.
There will be handmade soaps, incredible jams and jellies, fresh eggs/cheeses/meats, honey, candies, pottery, amazing wood creations, breads and pastries, flours, spices plus loads of lovely locally crafted gift items for all the special people in your life.
DON’T FORGET TO ENTER TO WIN one of the fabulous market baskets loaded with all sorts of treasures from our vendors. The raffle tickets can be purchased throughout the day for $2 each or 3 for $5. These baskets are REALLY nice. You will be anxiously anticipating the drawing! We’ll be drawing the winners around 3 and hopefully, everyone can pick their baskets up before we leave at 4:30ish.
This is going to be a wonderful holiday time. Bill Bozly will be playing your holiday favorites. Some of your favorite food vendors will be there, like Mom’s Mini Donuts and Copper Mac n Cheese. There will also be free cookies and coffee/cocoa. So.. bundle up and Come celebrate with us!
P.S Don’t forget that Kootenai County still has a mask mandate and recommends social distancing. 2020 has been a challenging year but we are all in this together. So please be courteous of your neighbor.

Try this holiday bread and bring that irresistible fragrance to your home! Move over pumpkin, there is a new loaf in town! Butternutsquash "pumpkin" bread is moist and flavourful, and brings thepumpkin spice season to your home.
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 Tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp pumpkin spice blend
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup butternut sqush puree (or pumkin puree)
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1-2 tbsp your favourite syrup orfreshly squeezed orange or lemon juice
- pumpkin spice blend
Preheat oven to 350 F.
In a medium bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pumpkin spice together.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and slowly add sugar until the mixture turns a light yellow color. Add vanilla extract, oil, buttermilk and butternut squash (or pumpkin) puree and mix thoroughly.
Slowly add the dry ingredients while continuously mixing the batter.
Grease and flour a loaf pan. Pour the batter in the pan and bake for 60-70 minutes. Check if it is ready by sticking a toothpick in the center of the loaf bread and then withdrawing it. The toothpick must come out clean.
Cool down the loaf bread completely.
Mix the icing sugar with syrup or juice. I prefer to use maple syrup or orange juice. If you add juice, add it slowly and mix well until you get the consistency that you like.
Cover the loaf bread with icing and sift some icing sugar with pumpkin spice blend for decoration.
